Baby, I made you a Muxtape

If your buddies or co-workers haven't harassed you with their own "Hey Check out my Muxtape!!", you can be the first.
Muxtape is a site where you upload 10 songs, then organize them into a mixtape, or muxtape. You can share the muxtape with the world or view other muxtape's on the site in a super-simple big Helvetica-type design. It's pretty much, 1-2-3, share.
With iPods, playlists, and 'top 5 tracks on Last.fm/hypemachine' pretty much having killed the art of the mixcd/mixtape, the site is a fresh welcome concept. I only hope it stays as simple and straight-forward as it is now.
Go make your own Muxtape or listen to ours.

I'll grant you that the simple part is appealing, but the truth is this site borrowed the idea from imeem.com. It may be simple now, but soon there will be filters on what you can upload and advertising in every spare pixel to pay for it all.
muxtape is going to be like that cool grandparent who gets alzheimers and slips away from us all.
what i don't understand is how they get away with hosting all the files. they use amazon s3 for the iphone version and you have a direct link to the mp3s.
they're taking down tracks when asked and claiming protection under the DMCA, last week someone posted a pre-release track from Scarlett Johanssen and the tape got pulled.
other sites make it harder to download than muxtape does, and they pay a lot of money to the record labels. Muxtape ist going to change - this guy theorises on what's going to happen
