Flash programmer Shane Brouwer made a game that pits the original French house robots vs the recent French cross-wielding mega producers on the idea that the latter stole the robots' samples. Of course, it's all fun and games.
Simple concept, simple controls, all 8-bit baby!
Controls: Arrows Keys to move, Spacebar to jump
Instructions:
1. Find the Samples
2. Jump on the bad guys, string together combos for big multipliers.
Adam Freeland got together with some crazy Kubrik toys and had a dream about Daft Punk playing out on their Pyramid in celebration of Obama winning the Presidency. The trippy visuals and stop-motion animation are fantastic, and when Obama comes out its just hilariously classic.
If you want this in even higher res, check out the Vimeo version!
Thanks to the guys at Discobelle for bringing this to our attention. Adam Freeland has been playing out an edit of Daft Punk's Aerodynamic with a bit of a chant for Barack Obama. It's pretty nice considering that in the realm of electronic music I haven't seen some outright political endorsements via tracks. We all know people are supporting certain candidates but hearing it outright on the track is a great and different thing.
If you're an Obama supporter, rock the track all the way through Election Day on November 4th. Oh and I promise to never get political on here, but this is really important. If you haven't registered for your absentee ballots or registered to vote in New York or your home state, do it now. The deadline is literally a week away.
Ever since Daft Punk's ALIVE tour, it came as a surprise to me that no one had done a re-edit/remix of the tracks from the concerts. Fortunately, 19 year-old CSK Ok from Australia has done a great remix of Television Rules the Nation/Around the World. He also has some other quality mixes on his myspace so check him out.
The guys at One More Disco have the remix, so go grab it and be sure to read the site as they tend to post pretty good stuff.
The one night I'm not watching TV I miss Daft Punk's television debut, and no less in HD! A few nights ago, the robotic duo did a surprise performance with Kanye West at the 2008 Grammys of their massive 'collab' Stronger. Kanye was rocking his outfit from the Stronger video, complete with glowing glasses. Behind him, of course, was Daft Punk and the now famous pyramid from their Alive 2007 tour.
Lots of folks have been wondering what the hell Daft Punk was using to perform (or if those things were just for eye-candy). Well, I just found out through Urb that the guys were rocking four sets of JazzMutant Lemur controller pads. These things are freaking next-gen high tech, and apparently you can customize the interface to anything you want. Daft Punk aren't the only ones to use them either. Bjork, Richie Hawtin, and Kraftwerk are among the many who rock out on the touch-screen controllers.
So there you have it, Daft Punk was performing, and they had pretty controllers too!
Saw Daft Punk live last night here in Brooklyn, probably one of the best shows I've been to.
The French bots really know how to rock a crowd, especially with their stage show which was excellent!
The Rapture were also awesome as always. They had a problem with a synth towards the end of their set but it wasn't a big deal.
The Ed Banger boys Sebastian and Kavinsky did crowd control between bands and did a great time making the kids flip out. The rage "calm like a bomb" remix was insane!
More photos and videos soon! If you were able to catch them live, let us know what you thought.
VA native Metrocide has been producing for years and his live performances are top-notch. His latest mix is a new and breaking take on the Daft Punk classic "Harder Better Faster Stronger", which is getting some fresh attention thanks to a certain rapper's sampling.
So I'm really psyched for this tour because its gonna be in a small-ish venue here in my hood. Daft Punk are going on an American tour with support from dance rockers The Rapture, 80's electro zombie KavinSky, and Ed Banger producer/dj and party rocker SebastiAn.
Everybody should absolutely know Daft Punk, but what most people don't know about is that lots of their tracks have samples from older songs. Well the good folks at Palms Out Sounds compiled a list of the original songs that Daft Punk has sampled. Check it out, its pretty great to hear the original full-length tracks.
