Converse - Poor Man's Weapon

I saw these in a sneaker mag a month or so back while in the city and I thought, wow, that's actually a pretty clever idea.

The shoes take the concept of military bomber jackets from the materials all the way down to the removable patches. Back in past wars, when a solider was captured, they could rip off their patches and swap them out for something else so that the enemy wouldn't torture them based on their rank or affiliation.

The Converse kicks play off that idea and come with several velcro patches that the owner can swap around, including an embroidered patch that says "War Is Big Business".

Exclusively available at UNDFTD and select shops.

NY Fashion Week: LOVE BRIGADE - Viva La Future / Ex-Oh Show

We caught Love Brigade's new 2009 line this past Friday in China Town and were happily impressed. Finger on the Pulse did a great job pumping out some quality tunes, while the models filled the space in a not-so fashion show style display.

The concept of Love Brigade's VIVA LA FUTURE/Ex-Oh line is budget-aware, locally-made to order clothing. Basically they know that the economy is down deep and they want to provide people with hip fashion, but at a lower cost. It's a great idea and definitely one that makes sense coming from Love Brigade.

Even their show was different. They opted to show their new line in different situations, like vignettes, with abstract environments. One line had a female model lying on a dinner table while the male models "ate her" with foam-board knives and forks. Another set had three female models tanning with reflectors that said "VIVA. LA. FUTURE."

Probably the coolest one, and the end of their show, was the closing with Finger on the Pulse throwing on some tracks complete with a shiny disco ball. Models proceeded to dance for about 5-10 minutes rocking the LB gear.

Check out our shots from the show below. Photography by Tara Van Der Linden and Priyanka Patel.

Dim Mak Collection - 2 New Tees Every Month

So I finally saw Steve Aoki dj in person a few weeks ago at Hiro here in New York. Besides his crazy running around stage and playing a set that got the kids riled up, I noticed he was rocking the exact same shirt that I've seen in most photos of him DJing (at least for the past month or so). I've heard straight from Dim Mak themselves that you too can have this shirt alongside another new tee this month, minus Aoki of course (that's extra!).

Dim Mak's new line will release two new shirts every month for the rest of the summer as part of the Summer Collection. Above, as modeled by Dim Mak family, are April's releases: "Pillow Face" and "Retrospecs" (which is the one Aoki wears almost all the time).

Pick them up at Dim Mak's online shop or your favorite store sometime soon.

Self Edge x Flat Head Denim = SEXFH05

The Flathead Company, known for having the fastest fading denim in the world has teamed up with exclusive San Francisco based retailer Self Edge to produce what could be one of the best cuts of the year. The SEXFH05 jean is based on the famous 3001/f310 cut but with a smaller leg opening so that there is more of a taper. They even bumped the denim weight up and replaced the lame zipper with a button fly!

I have been wearing a pair of Flathead F310 for over 6 months with a single soak and have to say the fading is insane. Theres a limited production run on these so get your Visa ready.

Pantone Eyewear

I'm sure most of you are familiar with Pantone, the company best known for its proprietary color matching system. Lately a lot of clothing companies, including Uniqlo, have released Pantone lines of tee shirts for the art/design crowd but why stop there? Pantone now has its own collection of eyewear that allows you to swap the arms to accent your frames and whatever else your wearing at the time. Just don't color match your day-glo nikes.
