Flosstradamus on Mad Decent Dancemania podcast

photo: Huy Doan
I was talking to Curt of
Flosstradamus a few months ago when they were last in town about what they were working on. Talk of the album came up including touring, but one thing they said though was that they wanted to start working on a podcast and get out more mixes. Well, today they've released their debut on the Mad Decent Dancemania podcast!
It's a great mixup of early Chicago house tracks and ghetto-tech that'll get your booty shakin'. Check out on the
site or
subscribe to the podcast and you'll get updates regularly, just like on Subdrive!
Blurb from the post:
Curt from Flosstradamus here. Just giving you the low down on this podcast. The boy Diplo asked us to do a Dancemania pod cast. If you don’t know about it Dancemania is a label out of Chicago that started in the mid 80’s with some pretty known anthems and artists. It wasn’t till the early 90’s when the more known names such as: DJ Funk, Paul Johnson, Dj Deeon, etc. were putting out heaters on DM, with ghetto and disco sounds. Within a few years the label put out more songs than you could download in one day off of hype machine. By 2001 they put out the DM 300 12″!! Over 300 songs on a single independent label out of Chicago! Pretty cool if ya ask me?

CMJ approaches, here's what to see!
I've got a firm belief that whenever these music marathons or industry showcases you should go to as many shows as you possibly can because lots of bands that normally don't come to perform show up in droves. Because there are a gazillion bands performing at the CMJ marathon, I'm highlighting the parties/shows that I think should not be missed. Each title is a link to the ticket/RSVP page, and has the pricing in bold. This little list will be updated up through CMJ.
10/17Fool's Gold Tour w/ Kid Sister, DJ Mehdi, A-Trak, Kavinsky - 10:30pm @ Hiro Ballroom - $12
You've probably heard of Kid Sister from the Kanye "Can't Tell Me Nothing" mixtape. She's rocking out the show with Mehdi and Kavinsky who are both excellent Djs from the now world-famous Ed Banger crew. Oh yeah...and don't forget DMC champion A-trak who just happens to also be Kanye's DJ.
10/18Simian Mobile Disco LIVE - Music Hall of Williamsburg -
$18Attack Decay Sustain Release dropped recently and the SMD guys are pushing it hard with several DJ sets and live shows.
AM Only CMJ Showcase - 8pm @ Hiro Ballroom -
Free w/ RSVPFormer regular on Subdrive, Lazaro Casanova, Freeform Five, LA Riots, and the AM Only crew rock the "Kill Bill Crazy-88 battle scene" style venue.
HEIST! Scion Showcase Party w/ Le Castlevania, Franki Chan, Toxic Avenger, and more - Rebel NYC -
Free w/ RSVP, $5 withoutNew Young Pony Club, Muscles, Simian Mobile Disco (DJ set) - Studio B
10/19MSTRKRFT, Z-Trip, Lazaro Casanova - Studio B
It's cool to see it mixed up with Z-Trip who's sets get people going nuts. I saw him spin on the Scratch tour back in 2003 where he retired his 45" records-only set here in NYC. Don't miss this! MSTRKRFT of course are the big boys of the scene right now so if you haven't seen them play out, here's your chance.
10/20Matt and Kim w/ Flosstradamus - Music Hall of Williamsburg -
$5Best friends Matt and Kim and Flosstradamus are gonna throw down an awesome show on the 20th. If Justice isn't your thing you should definitely go see these guys. Matt and Kim are probably the happiest sounding kids you'll ever hear and Flosstradamus throws down amazing sets mixing with 3 tables no less! Don't Miss This!
JUSTICE, Midnight Juggernauts - Terminal 5 - SOLD OUT for Oct 20th
The talk of 2006 + 2007, with that infectious little diddy D.A.N.C.E. in everyone's head they have THREE dates at CMJ! The 20th is the first date and sold out, but you might get lucky and get a ticket from a friend.

Flosstradamus @ Let's Go presented by Palm recap
Palm happened to launch their new $99 (say what?) smartphone yesterday, the
Centro, and had a launch party at Stereo featuring the likes of
Flosstradamus, XXXChange of Spank Rock, and a special appearance by non-other than
Switch! Pictures after the jump!
Flossy-D dropped an amazing set like always and Switch was rocking the crowd to his signature style. Best of all the party was completely free and had snacks (grilled cheese!) and a 3-hour open bar of anything you like.
Yeah I'll make sure to post this one BEFORE it passes next time ;).

More photos as soon as I can scan them (got shots from our Cheki cam!)!
