Major Lazer - Hold the Line (Nacey Remix)

I love supporting folks from my hometown, especially when they're actually really talented. DC-based producer/dj Nacey hit us up with his remix of Major Lazer's "Hold the Line". If you don't know Nacey, he's part of the hot Nouveau Riche crew with Gavin Holland and Steve Starks.

Nacey's remix of the Lazer tune is a slower and darker jam but keeps Santigold's great Mr. Lexx's vocals intact.

Don Diablo feat Example - Hooligans (Noisia Remix)

"Hooligans" is topping the UK DMC charts at #1, so Don decided to share two more remixes with us, both from bass-heavy masters. First off, famed Dutch dnb production crew Noisia decided to mix things up and gave "Hooligans" their own take on the tune, but with a twist on electro. I have to hand it to Noisia, they've broken out of the stigma of being within one genre, and they once again prove that they are one of the best production teams out there. This tune will be playing all over very soon.

Secondly, we've got a dubstep cut from Wire, Example's tour DJ. It's hard, nasty, grimey will make your brain rollover in its skull. It works really well with the original tune, but is a lot nastier than Doorly's take (which is fantastic as well).

Grab both below, and be sure to give both remixers, Example, and Don Diablo himself some myspace love!

Frankmusik - Confusion Girl (Don Diablo Loves to Slow Dance Remix)

It's Saturday, it's May, and summer is officially here in Brooklyn. It seems truly appropriate then that we received this dreamy dance remix of Frankmusik from the always busy Don Diablo this very morning! It's a slower retouch of the new single "Confusion Girl" (Out July 6th) from Frankmusik's debut album Complete Me out July 13th.

It's perfect for a day like this, so make a mix and blast it at a BBQ or the park!

Boss In Drama - Favorite Song (83' Gentlemen Thieves Remix)

original gentlemen thieves - ocean's 11
We got this in the mail from a New York outfit called Gentlemen Thieves. Besides having an absolutely awesome name, the gentlemen also have some fantastic production skills. Their remix of Boss In Drama's "Favorite Song" is a great retro 80's disco sound. In contrast to the original version the remix has a great mellow vibe and unique charming quality to it.

The Fire and Reason - Presta Atençao (Killer On The Dancefloor Remix)

Ok I'm pretty damn sure the title translates to "Pay Attention". The Portuguese language has a sexy edge to it which sounds like Spanish blended with Italian and French. On that note, this steaming-hot track is from a combo of Brazilians called The Fire and Reason. Bella sings, Steve plays the instruments.

With a mix of fidget influences and Bella's voice, the track is definitely going to be getting massive play this year. They're releasing this track on Larry Tee's So What label later this summer, but we've got the remix now so you can whet your appetite and start craving the EP! Damn, that sounded like a post about food? Maybe I'm hungry.

The Offspring - Come Out and Play [Keep 'em Seperated] (StereoHeroes Remix)

The über-talented StereoHereos just dropped this fantastic remix of The Offspring's classic "Come Out and Play (Keep 'em Seperated)" from their debut album, Smash.

This album was my first CD, and seeing this in my inbox this morning seriously got me excited. It's a track I've always thought would be awesome to remix due to the high energy, plus this is before Offspring fell off. The StereoHeroes did a great job taking the track into harder dance territory, with awesome builds, all the while keeping some of the track's original elements.

Fuck yeah, what a way to start the morning!

Funkabit - Lords of Coney Island (Brini Remix) - NEW EP!

I meant to post this waaaay back on the 9th of March. We featured Funkabit about a year ago on the site with his track "Cardigan". This time around, he's returned with a fresh new offering interestingly called "Lords of Coney Island", an EP with remixes from acts like Brini, Scuola Furano, Fare Soldi, and Useless Wooden Toys.

The original is a great pumping and rising electro track with a catchy vocal sample. Funkabit definitely knows how to play with bass adding to the fun vibe that his tracks have, not too hard or too slow. The Brini remix brings the track up to a higher energy and is perfect for that time that you need a hard anthem track. The Fare Soldi remix is a bit funkier while Scuola Furano's remix on "Lords" starts off great, but doesn't really go anywhere like their Act Yo Age remix we posted up a few weeks ago. The Wooden Toys mix really takes a whole different direction with the track and stays interesting by playing around with the original sound.

All in all, the EP is a fantastic grab with the original and Brini mix being the best highlights off the record.

Pick it up now at Beatport!

Act Yo Age - The Flash (Scuola Furano Remix)

Act Yo Age is back at it again with a new track "LUCKY 13" and a remix of their track "The Flash" by Italian Rap/House act Scuola Furano. Podcast users, if you'd like LUCKY 13, jump over to the site to pick it up.

The Scuola Furano remix of "The Flash" has a classic house feel to it with classic synth stabs, a fantastic long buildup, and drum breakdowns. If you're a fan of old-school sound, this is the track for you.

The group's new single, "LUCKY 13" is a drilling electro track with ragga vocal hooks. As the group says:

With the innocence of a Columbian drug lord, the smile of a brazilian girl working the famous Help club in Copacabana and the gangsta of a young Biggie, comes Lucky 13, Act Yo Age's finest moment - Lucky 13. The best track on the block. We hope you agree. Also peep the B side, an unbelievable interpretation of the now classic Act Yo Age track - The Flash. This killer mix coming courtesy of Italian funk-stars SCULOA FURANO, mixed [engineered] by none other than BOT, you might know him better as the half of CROOKERS.

Pick up the track when it drops on Sweat It Out, appropriately, on Friday, March 13th only on Beatport.

Adele - Hometown Glory (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

The Chewy Chocolate Cookies hit us up with their remix of Adele's "Hometown Glory". Not as hard as their usual club tracks, but it's still a strong remix that you can blast at any party and listen to casually. Actually, I really liked it and hope they work on more material like this alongside their club anthems.

Here's a quote from the guys about the track:

After meeting her @ Heatrow airport (we were on the same flight to NY...she was in first class and CCC was in NO class...hahahaha) (this is supposed to be funny, so please..laugh! :) ) it's LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!. During the flight, her album "19", was included in the "On board entertaiment"... how cool is that!?!?!? You fly from London to NY and your album is available for listening to all passengers...perfect time to show off...very very cool!!! Anyway..."Hometown glory" is simply amazing, and this is CCC hommage to her beautiful voice.

MoDo - Ein, Zwei, Polizei (Mustard Pimp Remix)

The always great Mustard Pimp took MoDo's one-hit wonder 90s eurodance track "Ein, Zwei, Polizei" and have turned it into a hardcore fidget monster. Will do some damage at some clubs and definitely get folks cheering. Love the synth stutter.

Black Twang - Travellin' (Elite Force Remix)

Elite Force is one of my favorite producers. He never ceases to please. Even back 5 years ago, Shack was destroying dance floors worldwide with his nasty beats.

His latest remix of Black Twang's "Travellin'" is a groovy, dark tech track. He calls it tech-funk, which I can definitely hear in some aspect, but all-in-all it's true Elite Force sound.

The Prodigy - Omen (Dirty Disco Youth Remix)

The Prodigy is always a favorite to remix, but it's rare that I get an e-mail telling me why the remixer didn't like the original. Usually it's "Oh I loved it and I wanted to put my spin on it." But Germany's Dirty Disco Youth was dead honest, stating that the original's breaks/dnb feel wasn't his thing, but he felt something special about it and wanted to create a hard electro monster out of it.

Well, goal achieved. His "Omen" remix is hard-hitting, keeping some of the elements of the original which will win over Prodigy fans as well as new kids. Like with his Deadmau5 remix, the Omen cut is nasty and gritty. Definitely something DJs should have in their digital crates.

With support from top-shelf acts like Boys Noize and the Bloody Beetroots, a second EP in the works, and official booking, Dirty Disco Youth is definitely an artist to watch this year.

The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club (Streetlab Remix)

We sure do love Streetlab around these parts. They just sent us their latest cut from their upcoming EP titled Bootlegs and B-Sides filled with the aforementioned, of course.

You may know this track if you downloaded their SELEKTOR mix recently. It's The Beatles' classic "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club" with a very familiar Streetlab touch: the deep bass, pumping beat, and that energetic but laid back energy the boys lay onto their tracks.

If you're in NYC on February 13th, check them out performing at the Apple Store SoHo Theater!

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Streetlab Remix)

Subdrive faves, Streetlab, sent us their remix of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead". They took the original concept and fleshed out the sonic scape, adding much more bass and a thicker kick drum with a driving beat. Still dreamy and chill, but with some more oomph. I honestly prefer it to the original and it's a perfect track to throw on to open up a set or party.

To give you a taste of what mayhem is at hand, they sent us a freshly-baked remix by Jack Beats, who happens to be signed to Hervé's Cheap Thrills label. Fidget fans take notice, this remix is definitely something up your alley with slick cut up vocal samples and some fantastic basslines.

Steed's new album comes out in a few weeks everywhere digitally so keep an eye out for it and pick it up! Oh and as an added bonus, check out the music video for one of the new tracks called "New Crack City" above.

Kaiser Chiefs - Never Miss a Beat (Yuksek Remix)

Yuksek is at it again, this time retouching Kaiser Chiefs' "Never Miss a Beat". Oh and if you know your Yuksek remixes, you should definitely recognize a "signature" bleep from Yuksek's fantastic remix of Das Pop's "Fool for Love". It makes up the main synth lead in the Das Pop track. On the Kaiser Chef's remix, it's an accent on the main melody which you can hear at 2:04 in.

Yuksek is currently on tour in Europe and Kaiser Chiefs just dropped their new album Off With Their Heads on October 28th. Pick it up on iTunes.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - The Sun Ain't Shining No More (Thomas Gold Remix)

With a name like The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, one can be utterly confused by whether they're actually a full-on tour or just a Danish duo producing some fantastic music. Already featured on the Apple iPod touch ad with "Around the Bend", they're picking up speed with a full-length release next year.

I'm kinda bummed because these guys played at Webster Hall with Switch and D.I.M a few weeks ago and I showed up pretty late (Ok if you were there please tell me if they even went on. They opened the main room at midnight...when did they go on?). Too bad, I'm really digging their stuff.

The Thomas Gold Remix of their track "The Sun Ain't Shining No More" is fantastic. You've got some excellent use of the original track in the first drop, followed by some bad-ass tech build-ups and a melody that are perfect for a peak-time drop. I can just see the sweating masses going ape-shit when the original cuts in and the remix drops.

Lebatman - La Maitresse Aux Yeux D'Or

Milan's Lebatman makes disco-electro with a bit of an 80's synth-pop vibe. You can even get an idea of ambient layers in some of his tracks and remixes.

His original track, "La Maitresse Aux Yeux D'Or", has that old-school filter house bassline and flanged-up disco stabs. He's also adept at making some pretty good remixes such as his remix of Sunset Cruisin's "Perfect Wave" and his cut of The Cars' "Heartbreak City".

Though some of the remixes can be rough around the edges at some points, which isn't often, the talent is there and definitely makes him an artist to watch out for.

Michael Woods - Natural High (Micky Slim Remix)

Michael Woods is a UK-based producer and DJ that should be on red alert on your radar if he hasn't been already. His new track "Natural High" is a mix of old-school vocal-house and funk with an electro edge and is out now with remixes from Micky Slim, Dino Lenny, Dave Boynes, Ant Brooks, Lee Haslam, and Michael's own alter-ego Out of Office.

Slim's cut is a bouncy wobbled-bass track that is definitely going to appeal to both the big room and underground crowds. The Out of Office Dub is a much more epic take that has to be blasted on a huge system to be appreciated. There is of course a vocal remix, but if you're not a fan of vocals on some tracks, this version is for you.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Dawn of the Dead (Station X Remix) - Proyecto Batidora

You're all probably aware that Buffetlibre is about to release their new Rewind2 remix project to the masses in 2 months, but what you might not know is that they have another remix project in the works. Yes, for real.

The Spaniards are at it again with a new "social remix" project called "Proyecto Batidora", which translated into English means "remix project". The concept is simple: you log onto the project website, check out the original tracks you like, e-mail Buffetlibre and apply for the stems of the track. Then you remix and submit.

Simple and fun, right? We got one of the first tracks off the project by UK-based Station X and it's fantastic. Check out the project here and try your hand on tracks by artists such as Cut Copy, The Bravery, Yelle, Holy Fuck, Walter Meego, Sidechains, Does it Offend you, yeah?, Dragonette, Ladyhawke, and more.

Little Jinder - Polyhedron (VARIG Remix)

An entry for the Little Jinder REMIX EP Contest, Portugal's VARIG has done a remix that can be best described as spaced-out dub four-four. Some elements of the track border on dub-step tinged with minimal, teasing at something bigger but never really delivering until the end. Nonetheless, it's still something that can be great to put on mid-set. Keep your sub on high for this so you get the full experience.

Division Kent - Superstitious + Remixes

Sometimes we get good stuff and so-so stuff, but this act is definitely one to keep an eye on. Division Kent are a duo out of Zurich, Switzerland that are shaking things up with their electronic-rock ensemble. The track we're posting, "Superstitious", just blew me away. It's a collaboration between the band and group Risqué & Crackdown who "never met in person, it's all based on a virtual friendship...".

Their upcoming new album Gravity, out in 2009, culls from a broad range of sounds. You can get an idea of what I'm saying if you listen to their myspace.

As a bonus, we have two fantastic and totally different remixes from that upcoming disc. Fans should know The Phantom's Revenge who brings a filter-house/disco bass-pumping touch to the track "Offshore". In contrast, the Shook remix of "L'Heure Bleue" is an 80's synthpop anthem. Daft Punk - Television Rules Around The World (CSK Ok Remix)

Ever since Daft Punk's ALIVE tour, it came as a surprise to me that no one had done a re-edit/remix of the tracks from the concerts. Fortunately, 19 year-old CSK Ok from Australia has done a great remix of Television Rules the Nation/Around the World. He also has some other quality mixes on his myspace so check him out.
